Holistic vs Traditional Treatment

I have a growing distrust in pharmaceutical companies. It seems like every med on the market is there to treat a symptom but not cure anything. Even a simple headache is most times treated with the over the counter drugs aspirin or tylenol, whose main function is to only relieve the symptom. Now I realize that the an aspirin can't "cure" a headache and YES I have taken an aspirin and tylenol to overcome my immediate discomfort, even though know a good chiropractic adjustment usually is my cure all for ongoing headaches. I personally try to stay away from as many meds as I can.

How about you, do you perform Holistic or traditional forms of treatment for your aches and pains?

Let us know what you think.

  1. Working in the medical profession I believe there is a time and place for both. It si always better to deal with it without chemicals if you can but unfortunately there are truly times when medication is the only way that person may find relief. When someone has alzheimers disease and they do nto have the ability to seek out a non traditional way to deal with their anxiety and can be a harm to themselves then medication is a must. To many times I have seen Alzheimers patients that their family have opted to do no medication and the end result is they suffer anxiety to the point they hurt soemone else or themselves. Interestingly enough my own profssion is one of those alternatie treatments that are preferred. If I can engage someone in a meaningful activity that brings them pleasure and/or a time to reflect it is ALWAYS better than a pill!
