Born For Greatness

Easter is the most important Holy Day of the Christian faith. In some ways it is no surprise that the fervor over this holiday is heightened and interpretations of its meaning are vast and varied.

Various fundamentally grounded churches see this is a day when a martyred Jesus "died for our sins" so we could get the prize of "eternal life." My faith walk has led me away from this belief to a more metaphysical meaning of the Holy Day. That being that the crucifixion and resurrection are a metaphor for the transformation that occurs in me as I become more in tune with God and my spirituality. I admit my view and belief is outnumbered in this world, but my sense is that it is growing. Christianity is steeped in tradition and that slows the wheels of change. A fundamentalist approach is more wrapped up in a physically interactive experience that for its followers appears to say "BELIEVE OR ELSE!!" so the fear of letting go of that dogma keeps a number of believers captive from the start.

Metaphysically applying the holiday to ones own individual soul means a truly interactive spiritual experience. There is no dogma but your own. In this place of reflection, you can truly asked questions of your faith and your own personal connection with God without fear Sister Mary is going to whack you for wrong thought. Another perk to a self based interpersonal religion is releasing the need to convert people to your way of thinking. Your personal connection is solely yours and the need for religious disagreements or wars would diminish greatly.

In my metaphysical belief system, Easter is a time of personal transformation and that God is always wanting us to express fully and completely and fulfill every dream.

So....

What if you saw yourself not born as a lowly sinner (as I was taught as a child) but as a spiritual being Born For Greatness? What if every dream you had, you saw as a message from God that THAT was what you were supposed to do with your life? What would you be doing? Where would you be? What would life look like? Do you even believe this is possible?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Holistic vs Traditional Treatment

I have a growing distrust in pharmaceutical companies. It seems like every med on the market is there to treat a symptom but not cure anything. Even a simple headache is most times treated with the over the counter drugs aspirin or tylenol, whose main function is to only relieve the symptom. Now I realize that the an aspirin can't "cure" a headache and YES I have taken an aspirin and tylenol to overcome my immediate discomfort, even though know a good chiropractic adjustment usually is my cure all for ongoing headaches. I personally try to stay away from as many meds as I can.

How about you, do you perform Holistic or traditional forms of treatment for your aches and pains?

Let us know what you think.

Are you going to give anything up for Lent?

In this annual Lenten season a lot people (especially Catholics) select a habit or a food item to not indulge in up through Easter. In previous years, the only thing that I personally gave up was red meat.

This year I am giving up negative thinking and limiting thoughts.

Yes it is something a little less tangible but I have my Lenten Season "Let Go and Let God" book from Unity to steer my thoughts each day. I also recommend the "complaint free world" bracelets that can be a great tool to change your thinking.

What, if anything are you planning to give up for this season?

Is War Ever Justifyable?

This question is one that religious zealots will have no problem with. If some people only see "their" way, it is easy to defend their position and dispose of anyone or anything that comes as a threat to their truth. For those who have an open minded respect for another point of view can we ever justify the need for war? Is war necessary or should their be endless dialogue and an unending "turning of the cheek?

Should Christians Worship Jesus?

One of my favorite quotations by Jesus was when he was talking to his disciples and in reference to his miracles said, "you will do greater things than these." It has always led me to believe that mans mission is to find his divinity and express it. If I can do greater things than Jesus then am I as divine as him or do I have more potential than him? Jesus' quote seems to suggest that yet Christians today "Worship" Jesus. They get on their knees to Jesus and supplicate themselves to their "Master". With Jesus' continual refusal to accept praise in his life, should Christians worship him today?

Should There Be Prayer In Schools

In the ever constant world of "political correctness" and the over compensation of school districts to not allow God anywhere on the premises I wondered what the feeling of others may be. Is this the intention of our forefathers to banish prayer from public places of education? It has long been my assumption that the over zealousness of school districts to not allow prayer in schools is a misinterpretation of the forefathers who trusted in God". At the same time I see how someone who doesn't embrace Christian theology to be put off by prayer time. What is a rightful solution to this sticky question? Share your thoughts and take our poll

Is God Always Good?

To break this down to a Yes or No question seems so academic. I mean at first glance a Christian may even say, why asked? Of course God is always good. Then you may have someone that will say, “Well if God is always so good, then why are there famines and wars and deaths of innocent people?” I believe the answer reveals for the respondent their own view of the nature of God. For some God will always be good, and some God will be indifferent and maybe even to others God will be bad. What are your thoughts on the nature of God?
